GenieSummary

Drapers Acres in Lake Placid, NY is a small and rustic campground that offers a beautiful natural setting for camping enthusiasts. The 38-site campground is designed with lots of trees between each site and offers a great walk through the wooded areas. For those looking to stay in an open setting, there is also a field area available. Check-in is efficient with friendly hosts welcoming you to the park. Verizon cell signal is good, though it might not be high enough for everyones liking. The campground offers properly working electric and water at each site, and there is a dump station available for RVers. Drapers Acres is not your typical high-end campground, so dont go with the expectation of finding luxurious amenities. Instead, its a great base camp for exploring the Adirondacks. While the campground has the potential to be a destination spot, it still requires some improvements to attract more campers. This older campground features a mix of cabins, tents, mobile homes, and RV parks that offer water and electric service. Some of the 30A full hookup sites have mostly full shade and nice size sites. However, keep in mind that some sites are narrow and very unevenly leveled, so you may need some leveling gymnastics. The interior roads are deep-rutted stone and dirt that can be a bit challenging, so drive carefully. There are only one bank of shower/toilet rooms that are clean and well-maintained. While some of the stalls may be small and tight, the water pressure is good, and the hot water is working properly. Please note that there is no heat in the bathroom areas, so it can be chilly in the colder months. Also, there are no towels or dryers to dry your hands to wash up or just after finishing a shower, so remember to bring yours. Overall, Drapers Acres is an excellent choice for those looking for a quieter and simple camping experience, close to the heart of Lake Placid.
