Gilbert Lake State Park is a popular camping destination with many amenities. There are 133 sites, 56 with electric, as well as cabins and non-electric sites. The Hilltop Campground restroom area includes a coin washer and dryer. The roads in the park are a bit rough and need repaving, but all sizes of RVs can manage it. There is a nice beach with life guards and picnic areas, and the park office sells wood, ice and other items. Some of the picnic tables may need to be fixed but overall the campground is well maintained and quiet. Campers should note that proof of rabies inoculation for their dogs is required before registering. Satellite reception and cell service are both good, and there are a variety of hiking trails, ball fields and swimming activities available. An outdoor sink and cola machine add to the camping experience. This campground is a great place to relax and explore nature.

Gilbert Lake State Park offers a variety of amenities and activities for visitors to enjoy. The park features campsites, cabins, and lodging options that are accessible to all. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing on the park's trails. Fishing and boating are also popular activities on the lake. The park has pavilions and shelters available for rent, as well as a visitor center and disc golf course. Hunting is permitted in the park with a permit.
