Hither Hills State Park is an excellent state-run campground located on the east end of Long Island, just a few miles away from the town of Montauk. With easy access to the Hamptons, South, East, and Bridge, this campground is great for families or anyone looking to explore the area. The campground is situated a mere 25 yards from the beach and features flat, grassy sites with a concrete pad for a picnic table. The bathrooms are clean and have good water pressure, although the mens bathroom does not have a slop sink. There is a general store, playground, and baseball field on site, and the campground staff often show childrens movies outside in the evening. The campground is great for swimming, hiking, biking, and more, and campfires are allowed in the fall. Cell coverage is good, but there are not many trees, so hammocks cannot be hung. Reservations must be made through ReserveAmerica, and out of state rates apply.
