Ausable Chasm Campground in Peru, NY is a peaceful and highly recommended park that is a perfect location for hikers and dog owners. The campground is well-maintained with good sized sites offering water and electric hookups. The campground is shaded with a mix of sun to dry clothes. Although the bathrooms do not have occupied/vacant signs, they are relatively clean. The park is adjacent to hiking trails and is minutes away from many activities. The roads within the campground are not paved and have a few potholes, but they are navigable. Despite some noise from families, the atmosphere is overall peaceful. The campgrounds Wi-Fi is not very strong, and TV reception is weak, but Verizon and T-Mobile cellular service are viable options. Bugs are not an issue, and there is no need for a screen house.

Ausable Chasm Campground is located in the Adirondacks and offers an assortment of adventures you will not find at any other single location. The campground offers cabin rentals, tent sites, and RV sites. Most visitors opt for the popular two-part Classic Tour that includes a breathtaking hike through the upper chasm followed by a scenic float (via raft) through the lower chasm on the legendary waters of the Ausable River. During the hot days of summer, you can also cool yourself off with a relaxing Tube Ride down the river where you will float amongst the towering chasm walls and past the same amazing sights as the rafts. The campground also offers an Adventure Trail via ferrata located in the Upper Chasm. This family-friendly (ages 8+) trail contains cliff walks and other daring elements such as cable bridges that crisscross over the roaring Ausable River. Visitors also taking the float tour (raft or tube) should purchase our Premium Package as it comes with a nice discount.
