What others are saying about this campground
Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located just 40 minutes north of NYC, this campground offers a variety of sites, from platform tent spaces to those for 25’ trailers, with amenities including a moderately stocked store, public bath houses, a laundry facility, playground, and camp-sinks with access to water. The grounds are just steps away from Welch Lake, offering a lifeguard monitored sandy beach which is open during the summer season for swimming, fishing, and small boat craft further out. The campground is dog-friendly and has plenty of trails to explore, from rolling meadows and gradual hills to steep climbs. However, the sites are a bit close together and can get noisy at times, so if youre looking for more privacy, opt for the back end of the campground. During the off-season, the campground is relatively quiet, but during summer weekends it can get quite busy. Prices are affordable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the forest, and take a quick drive to Bear Mountain State Park for stunning views of the changing foliage, quick glances at the Hudson River, and the rolling hills of the area.
