Indian Island County Park in Riverhead, NY is a spacious county park great for camping. There are comfortable sized sites, and most have 30/50 amp and water service. The beach is within walking distance. Its sites have heavy tree cover and a large tick problem. Youd be wise to bring some ground spray for your immediate area. The three bathhouses are acceptable, and the middle one is the newest. Like most county parks, this one fills up on the weekend. Sometimes you get great neighbors, sometimes you get rowdy ones. The county parks reservation system can be difficult to work with. Nevertheless, Indian Island County Park is a great place for camping, with good playgrounds, and a great place for tent camping too. The park has a dump station only and is a great location for hiking with the Peconic River nearby.
