What others are saying about this campground
Smiths Point Campground is a great spot for a beach getaway. Located just a short walk from the ocean to the bay, campers can enjoy the beautiful views and warm days. The campsites are close together, so there is not much privacy, but the staff is friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers are clean and the water pressure is great. There is no shade, so be prepared to wake up early if you are in a tent. The park police can be a bit overbearing, so make sure to follow the rules. The campground is not always quiet, as campers tend to stay up late drinking by the fire. Kids of all ages are running and playing day and night, so be prepared for some noise. The deer are friendly and will eat lettuce out of your hand, but dont forget to bring bug spray! All in all, Smiths Point is a great place to spend a week or weekend.

From The Campground
Smith Point County Park is the largest oceanfront park in Suffolk County, New York. It is a popular destination for sportsmen, surfers, and beach lovers. The park's white sands, rolling Atlantic surf, and adjoining camping facility attract Suffolk County residents and tourists each summer season. The campground offers sites with water, electric hookups, and sewers. Outer beach camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis, beach conditions permitting. The park also features a nationally recognized team of lifeguards, playground, scuba diving, showers, and special events in season. Off-road vehicles are allowed on the eastern portion of the outer beach with a permit. All beach-goers are advised to respect the marked, protective fencing around the nest sites of endangered shorebirds inhabiting the ocean and bay beaches.
