GenieSummary

Wellesley Island State Park in Wellesley Island, NY is a beautiful, well-maintained park that retains its natural beauty. The park has several full hookup sites, but some of them are not level. The park store building is lovely and equipped with a playground. The laundry facilities are decent. Although the best sites have a full hookup, electric hookups were sufficient and more affordable. There are restrooms and showers located in Loop D, about a 1/4 mile from most campsites. The showers have several hooks for hanging items, a feature that is often lacking in many shower stalls. The beach is small, but the park has nice staff at the camp store.

From The Campground

Wellesley Island State Park is located in the St. Lawrence River corridor and has the largest camping complex in the Thousand Islands. The park offers a variety of camping options, including wilderness campsites that can only be accessed by foot or boat. The Minna Anthony Common Nature Center has nine miles of hiking trails, and 5 miles of cross country ski and snow shoe trails. Visitors can take a trip in a 36 foot long Voyageur Canoe and spot bald eagles in the park. The park has 18 different natural community types within its boundaries, 3 of which are considered significant ecological communities and take up almost half of the acres of community types in the park.
