What others are saying about this campground
Bring your own firewood. Poplar Point Campground is a great spot for a family getaway or a weekend adventure. Located in the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area in Apex, NC, this campground offers a variety of outdoor activities, including trails for hiking and biking, fishing, and swimming. The campsites are spacious, with plenty of trees for privacy and shade, and each site includes a picnic table, fire pit, and lantern hook. There are no water hookups due to it being winter, but the water (in spring thru fall) and electric hookups work well. The bath house is typical parks style and could use an update, but the water is hot enough. There is also a beach, boat ramp, and designated swimming area with life vests. The campground gates close and lock at dusk and will not reopen until morning, which keeps the noise down in the evenings and limits vehicular traffic after hours. Poplar Point is a great place to enjoy nature and relax, and is an easy 30+ minute drive to many activities in the Chapel Hill and Raleigh areas.
