Tent camping is only allowed on the designated pads. The lake is beautiful and stocked with trout by the state, making it a great spot for fishing. There are boats available for rent to enjoy the serene lake. While there are no hot water showers, the primitive restrooms are okay and stocked with toilet paper. The campground is highly trafficked and can be somewhat noisy, but it has friendly people and a welcoming atmosphere. Its a great Basecamp to explore the Blue Ridge and surrounding areas, including the stunning Grandfather Mountain with its beautiful vistas and numerous trails.
