Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, and amenities like electric/water hookups, bathrooms with sinks, toilets, and shower stalls, a dump station, a playground, and a laundry room with washers and dryers. The Welcome Center staff is friendly and welcoming, and they provide activity books, crayons, and flashlights for kids. The Nature Center at the nearby preserve is enjoyable for all ages. The only downside is that some bathrooms were out of order and the ones that were open were not well-maintained. Additionally, some campsites are quite unlevel and require additional leveling equipment. However, the peaceful and quiet atmosphere, along with the friendly staff and stunning natural surroundings, make McDowell Nature Preserve a fantastic destination for nature lovers.
