This campground has a helpful host, Ron, and offers a scenic view of the Neuse River. The dirt driveways have potholes, and the signage to the campground section of the park could be improved. The nature center and planetarium are closed due to Hurricane Matthew, but there is a playground and kiddie train ride for kids. Amenities include water, sewer, and 30/50amp electric hook ups for $15, but there is only one shower per side near the Nature Center. There is also a free zoo with a good collection of snakes, and it is walking distance to the center of Kinston.
