What others are saying about this campground
Catawba Falls Campground is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving campers for over 40 years. The campground offers a mix of seasonal and nightly sites, with the seasonal/permanent section set in a ring that includes the office, bathhouse, services, and kids playground at the center. The nightly sites are gravel and located off to the side along the river. These sites are somewhat close together but have some level and clean 30amp E hookup. Unfortunately, there is no WiFi or Verizon service in the area, so staying connected may be difficult. The park is well maintained, and the walk-in tent sites are spacious, while the cabins have a distinct Hobbit Shire feel to them. Red-tailed hawks nest and keep watch over the campground, and the campground is walking distance to the Catawba Falls, which is an excellent spot for hiking. While the seasonal/permanent sites may look outdated, the campground management takes pride in the cleanliness of the campsites facilities. The playground is a bit cluttered with equipment, and the shop area is primarily used as a car detail center. There are a few friendly canine friends that visit the campground. Overall, Catawba Falls Campground is a little gem in the mountains with Southern hospitality and plenty of opportunities for hiking and adventurous activities like white water rafting and rock climbing. The campground is conveniently located ten minutes away from Old Fort and a short drive to Black Mountain and Asheville.
