GenieSummary

Located in Raleigh, the North Carolina State Fairgrounds Campground is a no-frills, quiet, and clean park that is very convenient if you want to be in the city. Its a useful base for visiting Raleigh and attending events at nearby Carter-Finley or PNC arenas. Though reservations are not available, we were able to find a site mid-week without issue, but the campground was full by Friday lunchtime. People often bring their campers and set them up a few days early to guarantee a spot. The park has reasonably sized grass sites with full hookups. However, the roads have many potholes and are in need of repair, so its best to take it easy on your camper. There is some highway noise and horns from trains that arent far away but they are not a problem at night. You can watch the horses and riders in their practice areas nearby, which is a plus. Overall, we had a decent stay and we would definitely revisit for a trip to Raleigh.
