This campground is located in North Carolina and is a popular local destination. It is a great base camp for day trips to nearby towns such as Boone, West Jefferson, and Galax. The campground is well kept with clean lawns and gravel sites that are level and large enough for larger campers. The drive to the campground is a steep but short single car entrance. The office is on the right and you must pull past it and turn right to park to check in. The staff is friendly and helpful, but there are a lot of rules and they ride around a lot on golf carts making the place noisy. There are fire pits available but they are not marked or tagged, and they are too close to the edge of the camper to have a fire. There are also no grills available. The bathhouse is rustic but has instant hot water so it does not run out. There are also 4 primitive cabins available to rent. There is a medium size pavilion for group functions of 35 - 40 persons and they specialize in canoe and kayak rental and dray age. Unfortunately, this campground is not very family friendly and there were numerous campers partying, drinking, and being very loud in to the early morning hours. They also allow pets over the 15 lb limit, despite it being stated otherwise.
