GenieSummary
The Refuge On Roanoke Island is a small, yet convenient RV campground located near many Outer Banks attractions, including Manteo and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The sites are gravel with full hookups on a nice salt pond and plenty of space for RVs and toads, though some sites may not be level. The bath house was very clean and a short walk away from most sites. While check-in can be confusing since there is no physical office or point of contact on-site, it can be done over the phone at any time. Though there are several full-time rigs, we found all campers we encountered to be very kind. Overall, The Refuge On Roanoke Island is a great option for those wanting easy access to local attractions without sacrificing peace and quiet.
From The Campground
The Refuge on Roanoke Island offers 15 spacious nightly rental sites located on the south side, overlooking the water and offering beautiful views. The sites feature 30 amp and 50 amp electrical services while accommodating vehicles up to 45 foot long. The campground has a full service bathhouse, coin laundry facilities, air conditioned and heated bathrooms, a pool overlooking the sound, and a pavilion area. The canal reaches to the sound for anyone interested in setting out on a kayak or canoe to enjoy the natural scenery of Roanoke Island. The covered shelter and the surrounding picnic tables provide the perfect ample space to enjoy quality time with other travelers while recapping a lovely day spent on the outer banks of North Carolina.
