What others are saying about this campground
Goose Creek State Park is the perfect place to experience the beauty of North Carolinas natural landscape. The campground is newly opened in 2021 and offers spacious sites with full hookups, a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. The campground is equipped with a lamp hanger, a swim area, and several water spouts for convenience. There are also several hiking trails with boardwalks that lead through the marsh and swampy areas, and visitors can access the Pamlico River and Goose Creek for kayaking and fishing. The campground is located in a cleared RV park, not the woods, so it is not as secluded. Cell signal is almost nonexistent, except for AT&T. The campground also offers a visitor center and a beach on the Pamlico River. There is a firewood stand with milk crates for $5, but bring exact change and cash. Be prepared to see stinky, brown water and shower after visiting here (if you go swimming). There are tall pine trees in the campground, but they need to be trimmed to provide more privacy between sites. The sewer caps sit about 10-12 inches off the ground, and there is low water pressure. The price includes a $6 reservation fee.

From The Campground

Goose Creek State Park offers a broad range of coastal experiences, from wetlands along the Pamlico River to a cypress swamp viewed from a long boardwalk. Remnants of boat piers, a trackless railroad bed, and burnt remains of tar kilns provide a glimpse of the heyday of a lumber industry that was once the center of life in the area. The park's estuarine habitats can be explored on foot or by paddling the Pamlico River. The park offers camping, hiking, paddling, swimming, fishing, and picnicking.
