From The Campground
Lake Oahe is a 231-mile long lake with 2,250 miles of shoreline located in South Dakota and North Dakota. The lake offers a variety of recreational opportunities including camping, picnicking, fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing, swimming, bird watching, hiking, biking, and photography. There are 50 recreation areas located around the reservoir. The lake is named after the Oahe Indian Mission established among the Lakota Sioux Indians in 1874. Age and disability discount passes are available. The lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers partnerships in NRM, interpretation, and volunteer opportunities.
