This campground is an ideal getaway for nature lovers, offering a peaceful and scenic atmosphere surrounded by a forest and a large reservoir. It is located in a valley and is great for birdwatching during fall migration. The campground has a variety of sites, ranging from basic to various hookups, and also some campsites for tenting. There is a bike trail that leads to the nearby town of Larimore, and the campground is only 2 miles away from US 2. There is a 9 hole golf course within 1/4 of a mile, and the city of Larimore has a small grocery store, two local restaurants and two gas stations. There is a lake for fishing and swimming, and an arboretum with many walking and bike trails. The campground is ran by the state park department and the sites are very large and grassy, with great cell phone, satellite, and air card reception.

Larimore Dam Campground and Recreation Area offers 144 campsites with 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electricity, water, and sewer hookups. The campground features a beach, fishing opportunities, nature trails, arboretum, bike path, playground, and shelters. There is also a golf course next door. During North Dakota winters, the campground offers great ice fishing opportunities.
