What others are saying about this campground
Cottonwood Campground is located in the heart of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, near the South Unit Visitors Center. It offers 76 basic campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and close proximity to comfort stations (flush toilets and sinks, no showers). The campground is nestled right up along the Missouri River, perfect for taking a dip at the end of a long day of hiking, and offers stunning views of the colorful hills that tower over the trees. Wildlife such as bison, wild horses, elk, prairie dogs, deer, and many birds can be seen in a short drive around the loop road. The campground is also a great starting point to explore the park, with a few trails nearby and a scenic drive loop. Campfires are allowed in the grill pits, but no big fires on the ground due to dry conditions. There is no water or power hookups, and the host is seasonal. The cost is $7 a night after the National parks pass.
