What others are saying
Buffalo Gap Campground is a great option for camping near Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit. It is a primitive forest service campground with good drinking water, hot showers and flush toilets. The campground is well maintained, with grassy lawns, picnic tables and fire rings at each site. It is conveniently located close to the highway, so there is some traffic noise, but it is not too loud. The campground is also close to Medora (7 miles) and the camp host is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. There is no reservation system, so it is first come first serve. The nightly charge is $6 per site and there is a free dump station with your stay overnight and freshwater available in front of the pavilion. It is a great place for those who are self-contained as the bathrooms and showers are closed for the season. There is no WiFi or OTA TV, but Verizon is consistently two bars or more.
