AEP Recreation offers several recreational areas for camping, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and hunting. The Conesville Coal Lands Equine Trail Area and Southern Ohio Recreation Equine Trail Area are available for horseback riding. Hunting is allowed at many of the recreational areas. AEP also provides information on water levels updated every hour for river users near its hydroelectric facilities. The company has a long history of working with governments, conservation organizations, and other utilities to reclaim land, restore wildlife habitats, and offset greenhouse gas emissions in areas impacted through mining. The reclaimed areas are available for recreation and enjoyment.
