Mosquito Lake State Park is a great place for camping, especially for those looking for a quick getaway from the Pittsburgh area. The campground is undergoing a renovation, making it a bit difficult to navigate, but all sites have electric service, and some have full hookups. The park is heavily treed, making it a great place to stay during hot and humid days, and there is a great kids playground with an obstacle course and nets for catching critters. Unfortunately, due to the recent rains, some of the campgrounds were under water, and the wood for fires was too wet to start easily. The park has a two-lane dump station, a beach, a dog park, and a marina, and one shower house with flush toilets and a couple of laundry machines. The pit toilets scattered throughout the park are not in the best condition, but the park is generally clean and pleasant. Speed limits and parking restrictions are not enforced, and it can be difficult to reserve a full hookup site.
