American Wilderness Campground in Grafton, OH is a pretty campground with plenty of seasonal campers. The park has activities for both families and adults, including a playground and a game room. Although the campground is close to Cleveland, it is not maintained to a high standard. The interior roads and sites are bumpy gravel, and the lack of sewer hookup and Wi-Fi is expensive for what you get. Verizon service only has two bars, and there are only pit toilets elsewhere. The shower house is old and not well maintained, with only two showers. There are supposed to be plenty of dump stations, but only gray water dump stations are available. The only sewage dump station is at the exit, and only one of two were working, causing a delay leaving the campground. The lake and beach area are poorly maintained, with some equipment not operating. The grass was high, and the roads urgently needed gravel. Although the playground looked good in photos, it was ultimately just two big slides and a Little Tikes residential type slide. The staff were not friendly or welcoming, with frequent arguments with guests and complaints at the store. We decided to leave a day early because the campground was nothing but puddles in the ruts after some rain. During our stay on a holiday weekend, the noise level was high, and there was no staff available to patrol and enforce camp rules.

The campground offers high-quality camping amenities, including clean restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and dump station. Visitors can also rent one of the campground's cabins for extra comfort. The campground also features an event center for weddings and other events. American Wilderness Campground has received positive reviews from its visitors, who appreciate the friendly staff and fellow campers.
