GenieSummary
This campground is the perfect place for a peaceful retreat! It offers level sites with fire rings and picnic tables, as well as a handful of full hookups. The views of the Maumee River are stunning, and there are plenty of walking trails and a Frisbee course in the state park. There is no check-in, but there is a bulletin board with camper registrations listed in front of the camp host site and the potable water hose is next to it. The dump station is located at the marina and has a hose for rinsing. The only amenities other than electric are 2 porta potties. Road traffic dies down at night, and the campground is very quiet and peaceful.
From The Campground
Mary Jane Thurston State Park is a beautiful park located in Northwest Ohio. The park offers picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and water along the river shore. Visitors can enjoy hiking on the one-mile portion of the Buckeye Trail that passes through the park, following the side cut canal. The park also offers a one-mile loop trail that winds through the floodplain forest and an easy half-mile trail that circles the day use area. Six miles of trails in the North Turkeyfoot Area may be used for backpacking, horseback riding, or mountain biking. Visitors can also enjoy nearby parks, including Providence Metropark and Independence Dam State Park, as well as historical attractions such as the Isaac Ludwig Mill, the Battle of Fallen Timbers monument, and the restored Fort Meigs.
