This campground is a great home base for visitors looking to explore the area. The owner and his wife are friendly and accommodating, though their rules and regulations can be confusing and change frequently. The campground itself is quite old, with showers and bathrooms that havent seen good days since plumbing was first brought to the area. The owner seems mostly concerned with cutting the big grass field. Kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats are available, though they are not always in good working order. The campground is close to the Quaker City Raceway, which can be quite noisy, but it is a great place for outdoor activities and there is a hay ride, corn roast and pot luck diner available. Unfortunately, mosquitoes can be a problem, so visitors may be confined to indoors during peak times.

Chaparral Family Campground is a family-owned and operated campground committed to offering a family atmosphere for your camping enjoyment. Chaparral offers 80 acres with nature trails to walk, where you might see some of our residents like wild turkey, deer, raccoons, eagles, and hawks just to mention a few. There is also a five-acre lake to wet a line in, take out a canoe or paddle boat, take a cool dip in, or just sit and watch our wildlife. Chaparral offers camping facilities from primitive to full-hookup back-ins and pull-throughs. Activities to please all ages from hayrides to bingo, swimming, dances, entertainment, campfires, potluck suppers, and much more.
