From The Campground
Oologah Lake Recreation offers a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. Sportsmen can hunt deer, turkey, rabbit, quail, squirrel, duck, goose, and dove on the 6,540 acres managed by the Corps and 12,940 acres managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The lake and its tailwaters are stocked with millions of fish, including sand bass, catfish, hybrid striped bass, crappie, and walleye. The campground has 11 Corps parks with showers, overnight camping pads, electric hookups, playgrounds, fresh water, picnic tables, group shelters, and grills. Water lovers can enjoy skiing, sailing, canoeing, swimming, sunning, or relaxing on or around Oologah Lake. Fourteen boat launching ramps are located at convenient sites around the lake, and two designated swimming beaches have been developed in Hawthorn Bluff and Spencer Creek. The marina in Redbud Bay offers a full range of services and supplies. The Will Rogers Country Centennial Trail winds around the lakeshore from the Spillway to Blue Creek Park for a total length of 18 miles, allowing horseback riding and hiking. The Skull Hollow Nature Trail, located in Hawthorn Bluff, offers three different routes, the longest being a mile and a third in length. Occasionally both trails here at Oologah Lake will be closed during any firearm season for deer. State of Oklahoma hunting and fishing laws are enforced on project lands.
