Elk City / Clinton KOA Journey is a great stop off for travelers on the way from Raton, NM to Devil’s Den State Park in AR. The campground is well-staffed, clean, and clearly marked with signs. The office/bar/store, The Moose Knuckle Tavern, is a cool feature. The sites are level and have full hookups, but the water pressure can get low in the evening. The campground has a restaurant and bar, a pond, a trail to the lake, a large pet walking area, and a sparkling clear pool. There is also a playground with fun equipment and lots of grass and shade. The wifi is good during the day, but slows down in the evening when the park fills up. The roads are a bit rough, with oversized speed bumps and overhanging trees, so watch out for overhead clearance. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there is a surprise gift for guests on holidays. The bathrooms are clean and heated. This is a great place for an overnight stay, but the close proximity to I-40 results in road noise. Make sure to buy ice before you come, as the store is expensive.
