Big Cedar Campground is a small, rural campground situated in the Ouachita mountains and Talimena trail, perfect for hunting, riding ATVs, and hiking. The sites are grass and level, with gravel roads and plenty of green space. The owner is friendly and accommodating, although his dog is allowed to roam freely and can be a bit of a nuisance. The bathhouse is clean but old, and the fire rings are movable. There is a path to the river, although the owners dog can sometimes be a distraction. The park is popular with ATV and mountain bike riders, and there are cabins around the perimeter. The sites are not well delineated and there are some long-term campers. Big Cedar offers great Verizon phone and Internet service and is conveniently located near the Talimena Scenic Highway and Pams Hateful Hussy Diner. The park is spotlessly clean and the owners are wonderful. Pull-thrus are available and it is possible to stay without unhooking. Highly recommended!
