GenieSummary
Doris Campground is a cool little campground nestled in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The campground has two main areas with decently spaced sites, and a loop on each side. A is a non-electric loop, and the C loop has electric sites. There are also areas for primitive camping and group camping. The sites are mostly back-in, with a few pull-throughs. The campground has many trees, but you can also see the sky fairly well. There are restroom buildings scattered throughout the campground and several shower areas. Some sites have benches, picnic tables, and fire rings. The campground is clean, peaceful, and offers excellent hiking opportunities nearby. Quanah Parker Lake is a short walk away, and there is a water pump nearby with good quality. Firewood is also available near the campground entrance. Wildlife viewing opportunities are abundant. The campground host is helpful and friendly, and the national park staff is knowledgeable about the park. Cell phone reception is very limited, even with a booster. Overall, the Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful place to visit, and Doris Campground is a great place to stay while exploring it.
