What others are saying about this campground
Great Salt Plains State Park in Jet, OK is a hidden gem with beautiful hills and a stunning lake. Its a natural, clean, and peaceful place, particularly in November when its nearly empty. The hiking trails are gorgeous, but some are rocky. Be cautious because its easy to get lost due to a lack of proper signage. Armadillos have been spotted in the area. Although the restrooms are clean, there are insects around, including spiders, so bring a flashlight and exercise caution when entering at night. Its essential to know which campground you are in and how your site is situated, as the signs could use improvement. For instance, parking for larger rigs may require some maneuvering. The booking website is somewhat lacking, but it provides an accurate description of each site. Rangers can scan license plate numbers to see if youre registered, which eliminates the need for a parking pass. The River Road section does not have full hookups, but there is a dump station. Tons of sandspurs are present on the property, making it challenging to take dogs outside. Despite the lack of wifi and spotty Verizon signal, the camping sites excellent birding and selenite crystal digging make it an excellent place to visit.
