What others are saying about this campground
Black Mesa State Park is a remote and beautiful State Park located in the far west of the Oklahoma Panhandle. The park is designated as a Black Sky area, meaning the stargazing opportunities are incredible when skies are dark and clear. The park offers great camping opportunities, with spacious and well-maintained campsites, and nice restroom facilities. Cell phone service is spotty but Wifi is available near the park office. The nearby Vista Trail, Petrified Log Exhibit, party pavillions, swings, meri-go-round, small convenience store, and nearby swimming hole, make this a great little park. The lake offers fishing, kayaking, and hiking trails with fantastic overlooks. The park is perfect for those seeking a peaceful, natural environment where they can unwind and stargaze in a beautiful, quiet setting.

From The Campground
Black Mesa State Park is a nature preserve operated by the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department in conjunction with Black Mesa State Park. The park is located in the Oklahoma panhandle and covers approximately 1,600 acres where visitors can hike and enjoy 23 rare plants and eight rare animal species. The park is a birder's paradise with golden eagles, scaled quail, black-billed magpies, and pinyon jays. Other wildlife in the area includes black bear, bobcat, mountain lion, mule deer, bighorn sheep and antelope. In addition to being an excellent location for wildlife watching, Black Mesa State Park boasts some of the darkest nighttime skies on publicly accessible land in the country, making it a popular destination for astronomy enthusiasts. The park offers online reservable RV campsites with water and electric hookups, tent campsites, picnic facilities, boat ramps, playground and restrooms with showers.
