What others are saying about this campground
McCloud is a nice, quiet city-run campground located a short distance from I-40. The sites are first come/first served and on the honor system for payment, so bring cash. The attendant was friendly and very helpful, opening the restrooms for us but the showers were not operational because the water heaters had been disassembled. All grass throughout the park, lots of space between campsites and the facilities are very well maintained. They dont put up with any rule violations and will run people out of the park for breaking the rules and regulations. None of the spots have sewer hook up, but there is a nice RV dump station with east pull through. Bathrooms are down because of a lagoon problem, so they have porta pottys that need servicing. Swimming area has trash everywhere and BBQ pits have the grates rusted out in the bottom. Would give 5 stars if they provided some privacy for their paying campers. The park is on a lake with lots of fishing, boating, swimming, and picnicking activities. It is a great spot for an over nighter while traveling on I40, or even a longer stay as the area is full of green trees, grass, wildlife and a lake. The major drawback to this park is the entry gate, which is closed and locked at 8:30 pm.
