From The Campground
Lake Texoma Recreation offers 89,000 surface acres of water for fishing and 90,000 acres of public land that is set aside for hunting. The campground provides over 1,000 campsites ranging from primitive tent to concrete full hookup RV sites that will accommodate the largest of vehicles. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers alone operates over 700 campsites located in 10 parks conveniently located all around Lake Texoma. Accommodations can also be found in State Parks operated by both the State of Oklahoma and Texas as well as privately owned resorts. Day use areas for picnicking and swimming can be found at East and West Burns Run, Eisenhower State Park and Texoma State Park. Boaters will find that Lake Texoma offers a variety of opportunities for all types of boating enthusiasts from sailboats to powerboats. Enjoy deep open water and sheltered coves alike. Lake Texoma and the surrounding area provides visitors with a variety of activities year round. Hagerman Wildlife Refuge offers a 4-mile Wildlife Drive where visitors can observe many different species of both native and migratory wildlife. Fort Washita, constructed in 1842, is located on the north side of the lake near Durant, Oklahoma. Many other towns and communities located near the shores of Lake Texoma also hold festivals and events.
