Bates State Park is a great place for a quick stopover on a road trip. The primitive campground offers lush green grass and lots of trees, though they are only 4-5 feet tall and provide no shade. The campsites are close together, but there is no need to worry about privacy as there are usually only a few RVs at the campground. There is no water or electricity at the campsites, but there are water spigots throughout the campground and the pit toilets are the nicest/cleanest youll find. The park also has an interesting history as the site of the Bates Lumber Mill company town and has plenty of trails to explore. There is no playground, but there is a nice picnic area and a large structure for groups. The campground is adjacent to a small earth dam and reservoir and new trees and shrubs have been planted to provide privacy and shade as they grow.

Bates State Park is a 131-acre park located in the Blue Mountains of Oregon. The park was once the site of a thriving lumber mill and an adjacent company town. Today, visitors can explore the park's history through interpretive panels and hiking trails. The park offers 28 primitive campsites for tents or self-contained RVs, as well as a hiker/biker camp with six sites and electric plug-ins. The park is open for day use from May 1 to Oct 31 and offers first-come, first-served camping during the same period.
