There is a store, amphitheater, and a dock. The campground is nestled among Douglas Firs and other native plants, providing plenty of shade. The lake is great for swimming, boating, and fishing, although the water level can get low in the late summer. The campground is patrolled by rangers and sheriffs, making it feel safe. There are plenty of trails for hiking and exploring, and a hike up to Red Lake is worth the effort. On holiday weekends, the lake can become choppy due to the wind and boats. The campground can become very busy in the spring and fall, so it is best to book in advance.

From The Campground

Detroit Lake Campground is a beautiful forested campground located in Oregon. The campground offers tent and RV sites with hookups available from May 1st to September 30th. In the off-season, tent sites are available at a lower price. The campground is for campers only, but the Mongold State Park day-use area is located nearby and offers several picnic areas, a swimming area, and a boat launch. The campground does not allow generators or metal detectors.
