Humbug Campground is a beautiful, well-kept campground nestled in the Willamette National Forest and along the Breitenbush River. It is a great alternative to camping on Detroit Lake as it is only a few miles away and much more private and quiet. The campground has 20 sites, all of which are quite private and cozy. Many of the tent spaces are nestled away behind trees and provide a sense of privacy. There are at least two group sites, sites with pull-throughs for trailers, tent sites, vault toilets, and many water faucets close by. The sound of the rushing water is very calming and the vegetation is lush and green. There are easy, but not ADA accessible, trails with tons of rhododendron flowers and orange rough-skinned newts along the way. The campground is usually not full and the hosts are very responsive and will usually cart deliver firewood for about 5-6 bucks a bundle. There is onsite managers and facilities are pretty well kept. The scenery is beautiful, clear water and the Willamette forest is wonderful if you like adventuring. Humbug Mountain is a steep hike! The only downside is that Highway 101 is right next to the campground, so Jake-brakes at all hours is common.
