Hilgard Junction State Park is a beautiful park located next to Interstate 84 at its intersection with Highway 244 near the Grande Ronde River. The park offers camping and daytime activities among the cottonwood and ponderosa pine. The Grande Ronde River flows through the park, enticing anglers, rafters and swimmers. Beaver, mink, deer and a variety of birds inhabit the park area and can be viewed throughout the year. The park is open for day use from May 5 to Oct 15 and offers first-come, first-served camping during the same period. The park has 18 primitive sites with water nearby, paved parking at all sites (can accommodate self-contained RVs), restrooms with flush toilets, firewood for sale, Grande Ronde River rafting access, horseshoe pits, and an Oregon Trail interpretive shelter. One site is accessible to campers with disabilities.
