GenieSummary
Eel Creek Campground in Lakeside, OR is a nice campground for dry camping. The sites are spacious and easy to access, and they are secluded with picnic tables. The bathrooms are clean and nice, but hand dryers are loud if your site is close to the restroom. The campground is across two miles of hilly dunes from the ocean, so its not close to the water. There can be loud vehicles from the dunes into the night and early mornings. The campground was fairly empty and nicely spaced out, even in August with gloomy weather. However, the water had a line break and was not available, though there were notices of available sites and the employees did their best to help find a site that would fit large RVs.
From The Campground
Eel Creek Campground is located in the Siuslaw National Forest and sits among coastal shrubbery on the edge of the sandy dunes of Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Most of the 38 sites are secluded and private due to dense shrubbery like rhododendrons and Salal. Sites 7, 8, 42 and 43 are perched on the sand of the dunes. The campground is divided into a North and South Loop. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water and a self pay station. A campground host is on hand and an amphitheater sits between the two loops. Hikers and birders are attracted to the peaceful atmosphere of the campground. The most popular trail here is the John Dellenback Dunes Trail, which guides hikers through the scenic dunes to the Pacific beach.
