From The Campground
Pelton Park is a vacationer’s paradise where you can boat, camp, fish, view wildlife and relax. It’s near Madras on the shore of Lake Simtustus, the reservoir behind Pelton Dam. The park offers 67 campsites, including yomes and cabins, restrooms and showers, concessions, a swim area (for campers only), boat launch, moorage and motorboat, kayak, paddle board rentals, fishing docks and fish cleaning stations, marina store and café. The lake has a small water-skiing area, but most of the lake has a speed limit of 10 miles per hour making it ideal for fishing and paddling. There is a two-mile hiking trail along the ridgeline above the park, offering views of Lake Simtustus and the Cascades. At the Pelton Wildlife Overlook, just north of Pelton Park, you can view ducks, geese, great blue herons, shorebirds, eagles and other raptors. Short trails lead to viewing platforms overlooking the Pelton Reregulating Reservoir.
