From The Campground

The Lower Crooked River Back Country Byway offers a variety of campgrounds for visitors to enjoy. From Castle Rock Campground in the north to Big Bend Campground in the south, there are plenty of options for camping and outdoor recreation. Visitors should be aware that much of the back country byway is open range, so they should watch for livestock. Additionally, cell phone service is limited or not available in most locations along the back country highway. However, visitors can enjoy hiking the 1.3-mile Chimney Rock Trail or riding the 18-mile Crooked River Canyon Scenic Bikeway from Prineville to Big Bend Campground. When recreating on public lands, visitors should practice Leave-No-Trace Principles.
