Ochoco Lake Campground is a great spot located a few miles east of Prineville. It features 22 campsites with level spots, picnic tables, and fire rings. The lake is accessible via a steep slope, and the bathrooms (including showers) are large, clean, and require a keypad to enter. The camp host is friendly and sells firewood bundles for $5. The campsites are nice, although the County has been known to mess up reservations. The park is ideal for dry camping, with no utilities, but water hose bibs spread throughout the park for water. The camp host is very friendly and provides lots of useful information about the painted hills nearby. There are no trees for shade, and some of the turns are tight, so it is not ideal for large rigs.

The Crook County Parks and Recreation Department operates three campgrounds: Haystack Reservoir, Crook County RV Park, and Ochoco Lake Campground and Day Use Area. Haystack Reservoir offers reservable campsites and is located in Culver, Oregon. Crook County RV Park spans 5 beautiful acres, offering 81 spaces, and is located in Prineville, Oregon, just across the road from the Crooked River and Rimrock Park and adjacent to the Crook County Fairgrounds. Ochoco Lake Campground and Day Use Area is located seven miles east of Prineville on Highway 26 and offers reservable campsites.
