What others are saying about this campground
Cape Blanco State Park is a great place to visit along the Oregon coast. It is within the Newport city limits, so it has access to antenna TV channels, AT&T cell and Internet connections, and is close to the touristy old harbor area. The campground is large and well-maintained, with a playground, horseshoe pits, and trails through the sand dunes to get to the wide, sandy beach. It has multiple loops, with a mix of big rig friendly spots, and grassy areas for kids to play in. However, due to the lack of vegetation screening neighboring sites, there is not much privacy. The 30amp plug setup is strange and older, so you may need to use 15amp for your stay. Verizon signal is good and AT&T is strong and reliable. There are lots of mosquitos and the constant sound of the fog horn can be annoying. The dump station is single bay and can be very busy, with long waits at peak times. The $31 per night rate (plus reservation fee) is on the high end for an Oregon park, and the November increase to $33 makes it questionable for a stay in the area. With no full hookups, this campground is best for short visits while exploring the Central Oregon coast.
