GenieSummary
Cape Lookout is the perfect campground for beach-goers and adventurers alike. Located on the Three Capes Scenic Route west of Tillamook, the campground is situated on a sand spit between Netarts Bay and the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by a coastal forest of Sitka Spruce. There are 38 full hookup sites, 170 tent sites, yurts, hiker/biker camp, hot showers, and a dump station. The campground is close to the Oceanside Beach Recreational Area, Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint, Tillamook cheese factory, Pacific City, and the Civil War game. There are many older trees that hang low into the loop road, so it is important to be careful when driving with a larger RV. The campground also warns visitors to keep their pets on leash at all times due to the presence of bold Bald Eagles. The wind can be strong at times, but it makes for a beautiful sunset. The campground is also close to the Pelican Brewery, which has a great restaurant right on the beach near Cape Kiwanda SP with amazing sandstone formations.
From The Campground
Cape Lookout State Park is a beautiful natural preserve located on the Oregon coast. The park offers a small campground with nearly the size of today's campground by the end of the 1950s. The park also offers a trail to the cape, a picnic area, and a plaque in memory of the air crew that struck the cape during World War II. Visitors can enjoy whale watching, tidepooling, and exploring the Plover Management Areas.
