Catherine Creek State Park is a tranquil and peaceful park located in a canyon created by the creek. Visitors can camp next to Catherine Creek and enjoy fishing for rainbow trout or take a leisurely walk along the trail between the campground and picnic area for views of picturesque canyon scenery. The park offers 20 primitive sites with water nearby, parking at all sites, restrooms with flush toilets, 2 reservable group picnic areas, firewood for sale, horseshoe pits, and a 3-mile hiking trail. The park is a gateway to many regional attractions, including the Union County Museum, the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, and the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. The towns of Union and La Grande offer visitors full-service shopping, restaurants, community events, and emergency services. The park is open for day use from May 5 to Oct 19 and offers first-come, first-served camping.
