Scaponia is a favorite destination of summer travelers and fall hunters. This charming, primitive wayside recreational area features a seven-acre nature park. The camp ground has 12 spots and is a first come first serve location between Vernonia and Scappoose up the Scappoose-Vernonia Highway. Like most of Columbia County’s parks, this is a great area to enjoy the wildlife around you and explore the trails of the nature park. This remote spot offers tent camping, parking, restrooms, picnic areas and drinking water available on site.
