Campground is large and open with trees and green grass. There are great views of the river and mountainside. There is a walking trail that leads down to the river and access to swimming holes. It is a first come, first serve campground with limited vegetation between sites. Toilets are available, as well as built-in grills with grates at the bottom of the hill. There is no cell service at the campground, but plenty of wildlife to observe.

From The Campground

Minam State Recreation Area is a picturesque park located between the Wallowa Whitman and Umatilla national forests in Oregon. The park offers 22 primitive campsites with water, river access, and trails. The campground is located two miles north of Hwy 82 on a primitive road and is closed from November to May 6. The park also features Minam Station, a year-round boat launch with visitor information, seasonal host, coinless pay phone, vault toilets, and trails. The park is a gateway to miles of hiking trails and is a popular spot for anglers, boaters, rafters, and those seeking solitude and simplicity. The quiet campground is truly off the beaten path and visitors can share the space with deer, bear, elk, and an occasional cougar and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. Raft rentals are available at the nearby store.
