LePage COE is a beautiful campground situated at the confluence of the John Day and Columbia Rivers. Here, you can swim, fish, boat, and play grass games. The campground features a roped-off swimming area, a boat ramp, dock for fishing, and trails for hiking. During the day, you can enjoy the high desert beauty and bird watch for eagles and hawks. At night, the darkness is perfect for night photography. The campground is conveniently located off of the Columbia River highway and is primarily frequented by fishermen. All sites have a view of the river and the surrounding hills topped with wind turbines. There is no grass, but the sites have dried weeds and gravel. There are electric and water connections, as well as a dump station and a pit toilet in the RV loop. The pull-thru sites are right on the John Day River, and the Columbia River is on the other side of the bridge just south of the camp. The campground is small and quiet, and the check-in process is easy. If you have satellite, there are clear shots to the Southern sky. The campground is also close to the Maryhill Winery, which is a great place to have a picnic lunch. Fishing is also good on the John Day River. The campground is a great place to stay and a great bargain at $12.50/night with a senior pass.
