Colonel Denning State Park is a great campground for those looking for a peaceful getaway. With 30A electric hookups, a nice clean dump station, and water spigots in each loop, camping here is convenient and comfortable. There are loads of hiking trails to explore, including around the lake, to Flat Rock, and connections to the Tuscoro Trail. The bath house is only a few years old and is up hill from the lower creek front sites. The sites are spacious and offer plenty of space in between. The only issue is that the restroom is at the top of a steep hill, so walking up can be a challenge. The campground is dog friendly and there is a playground for the kids. There is also a wide open area to swim that is very clean and well kept. The campground is currently closed for renovations, but should be open next year with improved facilities.
