Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA Journey in Ruffs Dale, PA is a campground located in a small valley. It has long term sites in two corners with the rest of the sites arranged into four rows of pull-through sites and a half-row of pull-in sites. All sites have gravel pads with a mix of gravel and grass lawns, a picnic table, and fire ring. Some of the sites in the top third of the rows have one or two trees that provide shade, while the lower sites have none. The office building has a large laundry room, a small lounge area with a pool table, and a camp store with some convenience store items and souvenirs. The bathhouse on the east hill has bathroom and shower stalls. Next to it is a large pavilion with several picnic tables and a large grill. Walking down the hill past that pavilion brings you to the communal fire pit area, then the pool area, and the playground. Theres also a new jump pad and basketball hoop in that same area. On the east side of the lake is a short dock, an equipment shed, and two boats available to rent. There are two adjacent dog runs located at the base of the east hill next to the entrance road, with an airlock gate. If the runs are both occupied, you can walk your dog around the lake or next to the grassy horseshoe pits adjacent to the runs. In terms of internet access, the best speed available was 96 Mbps down and 60 up. The campground WiFi had 14 Mbps down and 12 up, with a repeater pole nearby. The speed test run on a 5G AT&T smartphone showed 77 Mbps down and 3 up.

This KOA is an easy off/easy on to the PA Turnpike (I-76) and I-70 with lots of Pull-Thru RV Sites.Camp here, and you're just 45 minutes from Pittsburgh and its city amenities, pro sports, amusement parks, universities and hospitals. You can even head for the nature trails in the rolling Laurel Highlands, play golf, spend a day at one of our local wineries or explore Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater.Jump into the saltwater pool (open Memorial Day weekend-closing date is weather dependent after Labor Day) or fish for carp, bass and catfish in KOA's no-license-required catch and release pond.
